ETC!ETC! – WICKED EP [review]

ETC ETC - WICKED EP

As EDM fans, we all know that some producers are guilty of having tracks that sound same. However, with LA based producer ETC!ETC!, that is never the case. His latest EP, Wicked, released with Dim Mak, solidifies this as he continues to leave his mark on dance music in a variety of dance music styles. The EP opens with Colossal featuring Ricky Remedy, a mischievous trap tune which blends deep bass and a fun melody. ETC!ETC! continues the EP with Bro Safari on Devil’s Lettuce featuring Sanjin, a festival trap banger with Caribbean style vocals. It eventually breaks into an up beat moombahton track, a specialty of ETC!ETC! and Bro Safari. The titular track, Wicked, really lives up to it’s name offering one of the coolest sounding hard dance tracks we’ve heard in a while. While minimal in complexity, the sound design and percussion will keep you moving and anticipating the next peak in the music. Money featuring Hawkeye, produced with Salvatore Gannaci, serves as the EP’s lead single. A very catchy synth hook and fun Caribbean vocals make this moombahton track memorable and worthy of it’s own dance. Juicy featuring hype man Fatman Scoop blends some booty house influences with ETC!ETC! and Jesse Slayter’s club sensibilities. Finally, Parti Don featuring Sanjin offers up one last lazer-style festival trap track. Wicked really shows that ETC!ETC! is more than ‘just EDM’ with tracks that will appeal not only to club heads and festival goers, but also to Top 40 listeners.
